A Blogfest, a Buddy, and a New Blog

SPECIAL THANKS TO:
Carol Riggs of Artzicarol Ramblings. Carol took me under her wing this week and helped me get started on Twitter. I've had an account for months but never understood enough to use it. Thanks so much, Carol! If you haven't met Carol yet, be sure to check out her amazing blog - she offers writing tips and critiques.

DON'T MISS:
The I'll Tumble 4 Ya Blogfest! On February 10, post a picture, video, or whatever of your favorite 80s crush. I don't sign up for a lot of blogfests, but this one I couldn't resist. Hope to see you there!

A SHOPPING SPREE:
I took my daughter to Barnes & Noble last weekend. We bought Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher, Deadly Little Voices by Laurie Faria Stolarz, and The Girl Who Played with Fire by Stieg Larsson. I also bought several books of comic strip collections for my 14-year-old son. Those are all he'll read at the moment, but at least he's reading.

THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK:
Be sure to check out the new Cupid's Literary Connection blog. In Cupid's own words: "Where an undercover cupid brings writers and agents together to form magical literary connections..."

Last month Cupid hosted the Love Triangle Contest, where two fantastic agents selected from 25 entries (query and first 250 words) and awarded a total of thirteen partial and full manuscript requests (my manusript KILLING KESSLER was one of them - yahoo!) In February, Cupid's going to host Blind Speed Dating. You do NOT want to miss this...

YOUR TURN:
Have you ever had a fellow blogger go out of his/her way to lend you a helping hand? Care to give them a shout-out?

I'll have to check you out on Twitter!! There's so much info here, I'll have to reread. lol

Yes, I've had more than one blogger go out of his/her way for me. The one that first comes to mind is the most recent, Robyn Campbell-awesome PB writer. :)

Congrats on Killing Kessler ... Fingers crossed for good news!

hey, Suzzie, I was just thinking about your name, did you know that in Serbian language your name would be SUZANA POLYAKOVIC :)

And believe it or not, your WORD VERIFICATION just offered me word BULSHI (without the final T) as captcha :)))

I jumped onto the A to Z Blog Hop this year, and I'm shuddering at the approach to April already. What was I thinking?
There are so many of these. They're great to connect with others, but they take a lot of time. Guess that's part of being a writer these days. I never expected that I'd be doing any of this when I first set out to write a book. Surprise!

Tweet, tweet! Fellow bloggers help me out all of the time, that would be a darn long list!

MTeacress said...

I'm so glad Carol did that for you. And yes, I remember a blogger named David West who helped me figure out some Blogger 'how-to' before they made the recent changes that made stuff simpler. :)

I'm signed up for the February 10 blogfest. Took me forever to find a photo though.
And so many bloggers have gone out of their way for me I'd have to list a couple hundred!

Yay on Killing Kessler!

Oh, man. Is there enough room on my blog to post all the pics that I had the hots for in the 80's. I was boy crazy! I am currently stalking one of them on Twitter now (C. Thomas Howell). All in the name of getting a book recommendation. Or not. :) He is featured today!

Jackee said...

You. You are always going out of the way for me! Shout out to Susan. :o)

WTG on the Kessler request. I think you already told me about it, but I want to say congrats again!

Hugs!

I'm new at Twitter, too, and still feel a bit shy about it all, but it's more fun each day. I'm following you now.

I'm grateful so many bloggers have helped me, but I'd like to give a special shout-out to Rachel Morgan.

I may need your help when I start my Twitter account, Susan. I have NO idea what to do.
A shopping spree at B&N? You're the coolest mom ever.

Mark said...

We all need help at times (myself very much included). I'm on twitter too, but not as big a user as I am on blogger or FB.

I love 13 Reasons Why. I cry every time I read it.

Hey Susan,

Thanks for the comments - and the return follow - I appreciate it.

Aren't fellow bloggers just "da bomb" (sorry, I'm showing off my '80s:)

Anyway, I would like to mention two awesome bloggers, Leigh Covington at "Leigh Covington" and Cassie Mae over at "Reading, Writing, and Lovin' it!"

Sorry, I couldn't figure out how to add a link direct to their sites, but these two ladies are absolutely wonderful blogger friends :)

Cassie Mae said...

You were Killing Kessler! Dude that story rocked it out! Congrats :)

DL Hammons said...

That's awesome Susan!

I've already signed up for the blogfest. Can't wait!

And my list of bloggers that have helped me out along the way is too long for this comment. Hmmmm, it might make an interesting post though! :)

So much awesomeness! And I am way to jealous about your B&N shopping spree. LUCKY!

Yes, I have had a few bloggers take me by the hand. Bloggers are amazing people.

I know that Twitter is a leap but will provide you with plenty of things to make you scratch your head, make you laugh and relate. Twiiter is something you keep doing, until you get it. It's a lot of fun.

The 80s blogfest sounds fun! but I don't have the time. LOL on the comics being the only thing your son reads. Yep--at least he's reading!

Excellent resource on the Cupid site! Big congrats on your selection to be requested, woo!!

Carol's great. It really makes twitter less intimidating to have someone help out.

I have been lucky...I've had a few bloggers show me some great kindness. Recently Jami Gold critiqued for me and offered to pass my MG to some kids she knew. Very sweet!
